What’s in season right now?
Though weather and other factors can impact crop availability, there are generally particular times of the year when you can buy certain fruits and vegetables. We recommend consulting this guide for a general idea of the seasonal availability schedule: KYProud Produce Availability Guide.
Can I get at the market this week?
Though market staff are very knowledgeable about the items for sale at the market, it’s unlikely that we’ll always know about every single item available on a given day, especially in the summer, when there are often more than fifty vendors present at the market. The best way to get an idea of what’s available is to visit the market routinely, and get to know your favorite farmers! You can also check out the Seasonal Specials & Updates Page for news, deals, and updates from our members.
How do I sign up to play music or perform at the market?
We enjoy hosting volunteer musicians at our markets throughout the year. However, we are currently not able to host paid performers or any group requiring amplification. If you would like to play music at the market, please read the guidelines on our Musicians & Performers page, and then contact us by email at info@lexingtonfarmersmarket.com to discuss scheduling.
Can I sell my produce at the market?
Only accepted members of the Lexington Farmers’ Market may sell at the market. If you are a farmer who would like to apply to join the market, please visit our Joining the Market page to get more details about the application process and to access an application.
Can I sell my baked goods, jellies, or sauces at the market?
Only accepted members of the Lexington Farmers’ Market may sell at the market. Additionally, state and local health regulations prohibit the sale of homemade baked goods or processed food items (such as jams, jellies, canned produce,or sauces). These items must be produced in an inspected, commercial-grade kitchen in order to be sold to the public. If you are a producer who makes your products in an inspected, commercial-grade kitchen and you would like to apply to join the market, please visit our Joining the Market page to get more details about the application process and to access an application.
Can I sell crafts or art at the market?
The Lexington Farmers’ Market does not currently allow craft or art vendors, but we anticipate launching the Lexington Makers Market this year! If you would be interested in selling at that market, please visit the Artist Market page.
Can I take photos or videos at the farmers’ market?
Yes, please do! Just remember to always ask the farmer or customers if it is alright to take their picture, and please do not interrupt or block other customers or sales. Feel free to tag us (we have Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Google+, and Snapchat) or use #LexFarmMarket.
If you are with a professional photographer or video crew, are making a commercial or documentary, or plan to use footage from the farmers’ market as part of a political campaign we ask that you first contact the market to discuss guidelines and proper procedures.
Are dogs or cats allowed at the market?
Most of our markets are pet-friendly. Please be mindful of your pets and clean up messes promptly. Remember that while letting your dog pee on a tree in the park is fine, peeing on a table/cone/flowerpot at the market is a definitely not. Pet owners should use short leashes and follow all applicable local ordinances. If your pet causes a disruption, you may be asked to leave the market.
Is the market hiring for any jobs currently?
We do not currently have any job openings. However we have a Seasonal Booth and Farm Worker signup that we share with our members for opportunities in their businesses.
