Community

It's in our name.  We care about Lexington and the surrounding communities.

Volunteer & Experiences

If you are interested in volunteering, the LFM has several avenues for you to follow.

Weekend Markets can be bustling, you can help by volunteering your time at the Information Booth. After a brief orientation, you'll be on your way to being a farmers' market pro!

Occasionally the LFM is invited to help with Farm-to-School presentations in Fayette County Schools.  If you are already a registered parent volunteer in a school, you can help us teach kids about local food.

Afraid of a long-term commitment?  Pick a single weekend to help with a special event or children's activity.

Internship needed?  Ask about how the LFM can match your passion and course work with one of the community's needs.

Love cooking?  We might pick your backyard dinner party or Sunday brunch as a highlighted gathering and include it on Facebook and Instagram.  Contact us for details.

Muscisians

The LFM has limited space at many of our markets.  However, we have reserved some areas for performers and musicians.  If you are interested in reserving one of these areas please contact market staff.

Ways to Engage

GleanKY gathers and redistributes excess fruits and vegetables to nourish Kentucky’s hungry. By gleaning excess produce from the Lexington Farmers' Market and other Markets & groceries, GleanKY reduces local food waste and provides fruits and vegetable for more than 50 food pantries, meal programs and neighborhoods in food deserts. GleanKY produce is never sold and is intended only for food-insecure people. Since our inception, we have served as a vital link between local sources of food and hunger programs.

Fayette Alliance
A primary goal of The Fayette Alliance is to educate residents about the environmental, economic, and cultural benefits of responsible growth—and reputable, factual and legal research is the foundation for this initiative. The Fayette Alliance believes that Lexingtonians should be informed about the important growth issues facing our community, and urges them to use their voice at city hall.
